Highly recruited coming out of high school, college coaches always seemed to have the same comment “he’s too short for the Division 1 level.” At a shade over 6 feet, I realized athleticism would be the way to achieve my goals as a lineman. As a young kid my goals were to be a great powerlifter and football player, unbeknownst to me these two passions would compliment each other very well. I did it the right way, by accident. I set a great strength base early on where my speed and explosive power could blossom. The athleticism that was built upon this strength continually opened doors for me in high school, throughout college, and on into my pro career. So if you find yourself a little undersized or not quite fitting the prototype for your sport, don’t let that discourage you, there are plenty of successful athletes who didn’t fit the bill either. Remember, success is different for everyone, shoot for the moon and if you land in the stars you’ll find that the journey was worth it. Dream BIG, train hard, and never give up. TRAINING PHILOSOPHY

        “In the training community where fancy gadgets are the norm my philosophy is based around training hard and training smart. I have spent my entire life competing at the highest levels without the use of drugs, and I understand what works from a scientific and a “been there done that” perspective. We get back to the basics which have always worked (no standing on a bosu ball curling cans of soup and looking like you belong in a circus). Squatting, deadlifting, bench pressing, and focusing on becoming brutally strong is the key. Without this great strength, a ceiling is created on how much one can improve in regards to speed and explosive power. When all the sports that we love here in the U.S. require this ability, you don’t want to be left behind. GET STRONG!”
